Daikin backs next generation of HVAC technicians in Europe

Brussels, 15 September 2025 – In show of support for future HVAC talent, Daikin has provided all the equipment for Europe’s largest vocational education competition. Every two years, EuroSkills brings together the most talented young professionals under 25 from across Europe to compete in a variety of skilled trades, including energy-efficient heating and cooling disciplines. This year, Daikin provided all the heat pumps and related equipment for the competition, ensuring participants had access to the latest technology. Following the event, the donated equipment will be distributed to vocational schools in Denmark, giving students valuable hands-on experience with state-of-the-art HVAC solutions that are shaping the clean energy transition.

Investing in future-proof capacity of HVAC installers at EuroSkills

Daikin's EuroSkills 2025 partnership reflects its commitment to being an active partner in Danish vocational and educational development. For Daikin, it's about being a driving force in the transition from fossil fuels to more energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions, as well as the importance of investing not only in technology but also in people.

Daikin is this edition’s main skills partner of EuroSkills 2025. This year’s edition took place in Denmark (September 9–13) and attracted over 100,000 visitors including His Majesty Frederik X, King of Denmark. Through this partnership, Daikin wants to highlight the HVAC and refrigeration trades and strengthen the next generation of HVAC technicians to future-proof capacity and qualifications within the profession.

Over 700 young competitors competed for European championship medals across 38 trades. Daikin provided 15 Altherma 4 air-to-water heat pumps for the competition in the ‘Plumbing & Heating' discipline and 12 air-to-air heat pumps for the 'Refrigeration & Air Conditioning’ discipline.

Daikin supports HVAC education across the entire value chain

Daikin works strategically across the entire value chain – from developing advanced heat pumps to sharing knowledge in the Daikin Experience Center and providing technical training for technicians and installers at the Training Academy. Now Daikin is expanding its efforts to vocational education.

Daikin's Managing Director in Denmark sees the partnership as a great opportunity because competent HVAC technicians and refrigeration specialists are key to realize our society's climate goals:

"Future HVAC technicians and refrigeration specialists are central players in the clean energy transition. Without their knowledge and expertise, we don't have the hands and qualifications to implement tomorrow's heating and cooling solutions, so we can decarbonise the heating industry. That's why we're proud to support EuroSkills and the next generation of installers who have chosen a career that contributes to our shared future," says Robert Kagabo, Managing Director of Daikin Denmark.

Supporting Danish vocational schools with heat pumps

After EuroSkills 2025, the heat pumps will be donated to 15 vocational schools across Denmark, where students can use them for hands-on learning and training. The purpose is to strengthen and support the education of future HVAC and refrigeration technicians by giving them access to products and technology they will encounter in practice.

Students at the Marine Engineering School in Copenhagen will get access to the latest air-to-water heat pump with R290 as refrigerant, the 'Daikin Altherma 4', in their practical HVAC training program.

The Danish Education Secretariat for the Electrical and HVAC industries (EVU) is enthusiastic about Daikin’s donation: "It's a huge advantage that apprentices who will be working with these Daikin heat pumps get access to the latest technology, and that they get to see, touch and practice on a state-of-the-art heat pump in the practical part of their training. This means they can hone skills that are in demand in the industry and gain practical experience with the solutions that contribute to the clean energy transition," says Jesper Rønnow Simonsen, Director at EVU.
