David Leavitt joins Weber Shandwick Brussels as Digital Strategist

Agency invests in senior talent as its digital and integrated campaign offer continues to expand

Weber Shandwick, one of the world's leading global public affairs and communications firms, today announced the appointment of David Leavitt to lead its Digital Strategy and Integrated Media offer out of the agency’s Brussels office.

Leavitt will work across the EU Public Affairs and Communications teams. He will also play an active role within the agency’s digital engagement team across the EMEA region, a team that now boasts 150+ experienced members, covering key capabilities from digital strategy and channel planning, content production, distribution and paid amplification alongside influencer engagement.

Leavitt joins the Brussels hub from Weber Shandwick’s North America business. Originally based in Washington D.C., he helped build and deliver integrated advertising and marketing campaigns for clients like Holiday Inn, UNICEF, Save The Children, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, TIAA and Bank of America. In Brussels, Leavitt will oversee a growing digital team that is setting the standard for excellence within the Brussels market, particularly when it comes to digital and social media campaign planning and execution. Clients include the award-winning Friends of Glass campaign for FEVE plus the Youth Ag-Summit for Bayer Crop Science. Key public affairs clients include Microsoft and the Make Power Clean campaign.

Before moving to Brussels, Leavitt helped build the agency’s digital practice in Washington, D.C. — a content and strategy team of more than 30 people covering capabilities such as digital strategy, creative direction, website development, production paid media and content distribution. Originally a journalist on Capitol Hill, he spent seven years working as a writer and editor for the online news service Greenwire. Prior to that, he worked for two years at the National Journal, where he wrote a daily syndicated news feed for MSNBC and Fox News.

Speaking about the appointment, Mónica Vicente Cristina, Co-Managing Director of Weber Shandwick Brussels, said:

In today’s communications environment, clients are seeking strategic support with their digital campaigns. We are delighted to welcome someone of David’s calibre to our team as we evolve and expand our digital expertise. David brings exceptional digital know-how to our business – a skill-set that will ensure the delivery of impactful work across earned, owned and paid media for clients of all sizes.

Speaking about his new role, Leavitt said

I’m looking forward to building on the outstanding work the team is already doing. My passion is pushing clients toward what’s next — marketing trends, media trends and understanding what drives people to action — I’m excited to bring that sort of thinking to our clients in this market.
